How to configure the detection radius (Sensitivity Threshold) for a Channel on the Zone Protector.
You may need to decrease or increase the detection radius for one or more Detection Channels on the Zone Protector to best suit your environment.
Configure the detection radius (Zone Size) for each Detection Channel as follows
- Connect to the Zone Protector via the web interface and browse to Device Settings > Detector Settings
- Select the Detection Channel(s) you wish to modify (Each channel has its own sensitivity settings)
- To increase the detection radius slide the Sensitivity Threshold slider in the direction of Most Sensitive. (Try not to go below 40 dBr)
- To decrease the detection radius slide the Sensitivity Threshold slider in the direction of Least Sensitive (Try not to go above 65 dBr)
The sensitivity settings may vary depending on the environment, for example walls and metal surroundings tend to give different results to an open plan office.
Furthermore cell phones closer to a cell phone tower tend to emit less power than those further away from the tower.
N.B Ensure you alter the sensitivity of each channel to best suit your environment and test each channel individually..

The sensitivity value displayed on the Detector Settings page (47dBr in the screenshot) is a relative dB value.
With the current device firmware (version 2.15) the allowed range of threshold is from 35 to 80dBr. This more than covers the dynamic range of the Zone Protector so that you can use every last ounce of sensitivity. Because of variations with frequency this may mean that either the Zone Protector will be too sensitive (i.e. may respond to noise) when set to 35dBr, and/or will be totally insensitive (may not respond to even the strongest signal) when set to 80dBr.
The bottom line here is that you always need to use some trial and error when selecting a threshold near to either end of the allowed range.
The factory default value of 50dBr works for most applications and is a good starting point.
